Birth is A Beautiful Nightmare!!!

During my pregnancy people asked me all the times: “Are you ready to give birth?” “Are you nervous?” “Are you scared?”. My response was: “No. I try not to think about it. It’s mind over matter. The more you think about it the more it will hurt. You can not let the pain control you. You have to control the pain. If you focus on something different like your breathing, then you’ll learn how to opt the pain out.” (Clearly I didn’t know what I was getting into. O_0 ) Not saying that it’s not possible (Yoga is a great exercise to teach you how to focus on only your breathing.), I just didn’t do well in that case. How can I describe the pain? Contractions are like menstrual cramps but 50 times worse! But thankfully we’re not in the era of our great grandparents and we have new medicine that helps calm the pain. DO NOT be afraid or feel less of a women because you decide to get an Epidural. Trust me it works wonders! Just stay as still as possible. Oh and there’s pain meds that will have you feeling like you so high on drugs. I was telling my boyfriend things and when he told me what I was saying I told him I did not tell him that. (They drew blood from me and I didn’t even notice. Those who know me can tell you how much of a chicken I am when it comes to needles! Lol) But after you get the epidural the pain disappears. When it’s time to push, it takes up a lot of energy. Which is the reason why exercising is important. After it’s all over and you finally get to hold your bundle of joy, you will realize that it was all worth it. So don’t be afraid. Just take it day by day, and when the day comes you’ll handle it from there. One more thing, perineal massage will help your perineum stretch and prepare it for labor. This will also decrease your chances of having a episiotomy.

10 Things You Must Do While You are Pregnant

        1. Set an appointment with an OB GYN as soon as you know or assume you’re pregnant.

        1. Make sure to take your prenatal pills, or any other pills prescribed, i.e., if your blood is low be sure to get your iron.
        2. Since you’re carrying another human being, your body needs twice the nutrients, so be sure to get in your calcium.
        3. Forget the junk food! EAT HEALTHY! There’s plenty of time for you to eat all the junk food in the world, after pregnancy. (But know, you are your child’s role model. they will carry on your eating habits).

        1. Just cause you’re pregnant doesn’t mean that you have to sit around! EXERCISING is very important, and will help you be fit and ready for labor. Walking for 10 minutes serves you good.

      1. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER!!!
      2. Consult your doctor if you see anything abnormal, of feel like something isn’t right.
      3. Interact with your baby. Talk to your baby, sing, read or play music for your baby. I’m telling you your baby does recognize your voice (The first time I held my baby, ¬†she smiled at the sound of my voice, which brought tears to my eyes).
      4. DO NOT look at women giving birth! (It will scare the crap out of you! Lol)
      5. ENJOY it while it last, cause even though it feels like you’re pregnant for an eternity, 40 weeks go quick! (And although you’re anticipated to meet your little one, there will be times when you will wish you can put them back into your stomach. Lol).

Pregnancy Has it’s Ups and Downs!

Pregnancy! Where do I start? Everyone is different and experience it differently, but I know like many women the morning sickness (Ugh! I have no clue why it’s called morning sickness, for me it was night sickness or after every meal sickness.) can be the worst part! The loss of appetite, the feeling like your guts were going to come out of your mouth, the metal like or weird taste in your mouth, the shortness of breath, the wanting to sleep all day kind of feel, the awkward belly rub O_0(haha I know I hated that the most!) and feeling like you have 50 pound weights in your stomach (as for those who know me, I’m really short and 50 pounds in my stomach would be quite a lot for me! Lol). However with the cons there are the pros! Being able to hear your baby’s heart for the first time, feeling the movements, going to your doctor’s appointment and knowing that your baby is healthy, can put the biggest smile on your face.

Being a Mother for the First Time!

Many say “being a mom is hard.” “It’s not easy.” Of course it’s not! But nothing in life is easy if you come to think about it. Becoming a mom comes with ¬†responsibilities, changes, hardships, sacrifices and the list continues. Babies are different, and neither of them are born with their own personal manual (If only they did. Wouldn’t that make our lives much easier. Lol). In this blog I will be writing about how I am able to balance my life with a baby, as well as some fun facts I’ve learned about being a mom and tips I’ve used during my journey.
